Small Business Internship Program (SBIP)
The Federal Government recently announced a change in its Small Business Internship Program (SBIP) to include businesses operating under sole proprietorship status. Through the program, up to 75% of a student intern’s wages and mandatory benefits will be reimbursed to the employer.  The SBIP will award approximately 400 student placements across Canada per year and each student will receive a full time position for up to 420 hours (10 to 14 weeks).

 To be eligible for the program, you must:
• be a small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) with less than 500 employees;
• be incorporated or a sole proprietorship;
• wish to enhance your e-business capability;
• contribute 25% of the student’s wages and related expenses. 

Eligible students will come from post-secondary education in a Business, Marketing, Engineering or Information Communication Technology related field and intend to continue their education.  If you are interested in applying, please visit the website at www.ic.gc.ca/sbip for more information.

Ontario Tourism features The APPLE PIE TRAIL!

During the Canadian Tourism Commission conference “GoMedia” in Toronto this week OTMPC (Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corp) featured the Blue Mountains Apple Pie Trail at a reception in Toronto's Historic Distillery District. Over 400 delegates were in attendance, of which half represent local and international travel journalists.

Craigleith Heritage Depot Lecture Series 2010

The lectures are held at the Beaver Valley Community Centre from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and the cost is $7 per lecture or $10 per couple. Youth aged 18 and under pay $4 and a year pass is available for $65. Museum members receive a 10 per cent discount.
